Healthcare Regulations:
The Care Standards Act 2000 as amended, made it illegal for any individual or organisation to operate a laser or IPL system without prior registration with the Healthcare Commission. Sadly an industry estimate states there are many users of such systems that are deliberately avoiding registration and if caught could face criminal prosecution.
The Healthcare Commission regulates independent healthcare providers including establishments operating laser and Intense Pulsed Light Systems (IPL). The ain of the Commission to ensure safe, quality assured treatment and care and help ensure the service provider should always focus on the needs of the client.
At Cristianos, we endorse and fully support the Commissions aims and objectives, by being pro- active in implementing its standards. Our own values and beliefs in ethical and professional treatment and care go hand in hand with the ethos of the Commission.
All of our clinics are registered and inspected by the Healthcare Commission. The inspection process has three-tiered approach:
1.Discussion with clients, staff, manager and others
2.Observation of working arrangements in the establishment
3.
Scrutiny of written polices, procedures and records.
Registration with the Healthcare Commission is an exhausting process but guarantees service users high levels of quality of treatment and care. Prospective clients have the right to see the report prepared by the Commission with regard to any registered user and therefore give the prospective client an insider view of the organisation. All registered organisation must allow any interested parties access to this report or alternatively you can contact The Commission directly and they will be glad firstly to let you know if a user is registered and secondly supply reports for those who are. The Commission can be contacted on 0207 448 9200.
Chris Hart MD of Cristianos Laser Clinic Ltd. has this advice “Anybody considering laser or IPL treatment must do their homework not only into the clinically proven success of the equipment being used but in respect of the legality of the user, bearing in mind that should any problems occur insurance may not cover illegal operation. Just because you see advertisements for laser or IPL it does not necessarily follow that these users are operating legally. The Healthcare Commission welcome enquiries from service users as they are the very people The Commission was set up to protect”.
All of Cristianos Clinics have been found by the Commission not only to meet all of the National Minimum Standards but exceed those standards in areas of of information provision, quality of treatment and care, monitoring of quality and care, client survey and training of staff were highlighted by the report. One inspector found “openness and transparency have created an environment to ensure quality of treatment and services”.
