Being transgendered, I was desperately unhappy about having a strong, dark beard, and having decided to do something about my condition, I knew I had to find a way of removing all facial and unwanted body hair. I was very worried about using laser clinics however, having heard of other peoples bad experiences regarding both cost, and the effectiveness and safety of the treatment provided. Fortunately, I came across the Web site for Cristianos Laser Clinic, Altrincham, which specialises in treatment for the trasngendered. I was very impressed with what I read, so took the plunge and made my first appointment. Things could not have got off to a worse start, as I was held up by an accident on the M62, and was very late for my consultation, but Chris Hart, who is a Director of the clinic, waited for me, and, after explaining all about the treatment and how it works, I had my test patches. The most significant part of this visit however, was that Chris made me feel totally at ease, and I knew instantly that this clinic was going to be the right choice. I was also happy that I only paid for each treatment I had – none of this paying up front business that some of the clinics insist on. Since then, I have completed my laser treatment on my face, and more recently continued with electrolysis at the new Leeds clinic. That too is now nearing completion, and I am absolutely delighted by the result. Shaving is now a thing of the past. My face is totally clear and I have no skin damage at all. I also had laser treatment on my chest, and that was completely cleared of hair after only a few treatments. The laser system used at Cristianos certainly worked for me, and the electrolysis finished the job off, by removing the blonde hairs that were left and which were not treatable by laser. I have had nothing but respect from everyone at Cristianos and I have been treated brilliantly not only by Chris Hart, but also Catherine, Clare and Kerry, whilst the receptionists (Sue at Altrincham, and Alison and Lauren at Leeds) have always been so friendly. I am so very glad I made the decision to use Cristianos, and would recommend it now to anyone wishing to have laser treatment or electrolysis

Update 2008

I completed my treatment in February 2007. Since then I have had no further need for either laser or electrolysis on my face and the final result has been so good, that at long last I had the confidence to take the long awaited decision to transition, which I did in November at the age of 53. As I write this in April 2008, my face remains completely clear, as can perhaps be seen in the photograph taken very recently.

I view the outcome of my treatment as excellent - far better than I ever imagined, and absolutely no scarring or skin damage. Whilst I would not view either laser treatment or electrolysis as a fun activity,
I came to look forward to each of my visits to Cristianos, which felt more like spending an hour with friends.  Although I have had no treatments for over a year, I keep in touch with everyone and will always be grateful for the way they have not only cared for me during the treatments, but also their genuine friendship and encouragement.

I can only re-iterate to anyone who is contemplating hair removal treatment, that in my view there is no better place to go than Cristianos. For me, it was the beginning of the rest of my life and probably one of the most significant decisions I have ever made. Undoubtedly, that decision was the correct one, and
I am happy to place on record my appreciation to Chris and Dave and all of their staff, for what they have done for me.
