Vicky Full-face:

This patient presented with coarse black facial hair growth, feeling unable to attend the G.I.C. dressed as hair growth was so dominant. She underwent a test patch with no adverse reactions which meant treatment could commence immediately. After three full-face sessions V. was able to pass comfortably in public and attend the G.I.C. in role, which for her was a remarkable step. On subsequent visits to the clinic V. has grown in confidence and it has been a pleasure to see her flourish as a person. V. underwent 12 full-face treatments commencing in Aug 99 ranging from 17.5 joules to 20 joules. The only medication that V. was taking when treatment commenced was Androcur which had reduced body hair but not facial. Three months into treatment she was prescribed a hormone regimen by the G.I.C. Starting laser treatment to remove my facial hair was, without doubt, the most significant event of my entire transition process and certainly the one that made the most dramatic difference to my life. It was the catalyst that really triggered the rest of the process and accelerated me rapidly towards the moment of transition. It was incredible - after only two sessions I was able to pass in public as a woman. The reduction in hair density and re-growth was astounding. Friends and work colleagues were noticing the change and commenting on how good my skin was looking. My confidence and self-esteem soared to unbelievable new heights and by my third laser session I was attending in female role. Life was so much better and I found myself continually eagerly awaiting each forthcoming laser session. After my fourth session I attended a clinic session as Vicky and the consultants were very impressed. As I now felt so good about myself, for the first time, I made rapid progress in other areas of my transition. After only 7 treatments, of approximately 1 hour each, I took the step which previously I had only dreamed of and transitioned to living and working full-time as a woman. Today, I have completed my course of laser treatment, my face is very feminine, there are no signs of regrowth and I am incredibly happy. I am only six months away from gender reassignment surgery. If I hadn't discovered laser treatment I would hate to think how far back along the process and how unhappy I would be today.
